Two of finance's hottest topics--fair value and the costs and benefits of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act--will be the focus of "Academe Meets Practice," a complimentary one-day conference November 15 at Baruch College in New York. The event is being sponsored by Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF), in conjunction with Baruch's Stan Ross Department of Accountancy and the Robert Zicklin Center for Corporate Integrity.

The morning session on fair value will have a panel of participants from industry, academia and other disciplines, among them: FEI President and CEO Colleen Cunningham, Linda MacDonald of the Financial Accounting Standards Board, Allan Cohen of Time Warner, Steven Lilien of Baruch, Edward Riedl of Harvard and Lou Thompson of Kalorama Partners and Genesis Inc. Norman Strauss, a recognized accounting authority now with Baruch, will moderate.
