Alaska exports for 2008 tallied $3.6 billion, down 11 percent from the previous year's total. State officials attributed the drop to faltering prices for Alaska resource exports. The most recent export total ranked as Alaska's fourth best figure recorded. In 2008, the value of Alaska's annual seafood exports was $1.8 billion, the fourth-highest year ever and a 9.1 percent decrease from the previous year. Climbing gold prices boosted Alaska's export value last year to $143 million, up from $131 million in 2007.
