The United States Department of Commerce and International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) have launched BuyUSA.com, a subscriber-based e-marketplace network that links small and mid-sized U.S. businesses with qualified buyers and potential business partners worldwide.

BuyUSA.com lists more than 14,000 registered buyers from 112 countries looking to partner with U.S. exporters. Similarly, foreign companies can view product catalogs and information on U.S. companies that have been pre-qualified by the Commerce Department's U.S. Commercial Service.

"When it comes to trade, American leadership is vital," said Commerce Secretary Donald L. Evans, adding, "BuyUSA.com is an innovative tool to substantially increase the number of smaller U.S. firms that export."
