Expect pressure to relax grooming standards.

United Parcel Service, with 525,000 employees, just became one of the largest employers to embrace more relaxed grooming standards. The change comes as more municipalities enact laws aimed at allowing workers to wear hairstyles sometimes associated with particular racial or ethnic groups.

UPS's new grooming code specifically allows workers to have facial hair and natural styles like Afros, braids and "curls, coils, locs, twists and knots." By eliminating gender-specific rules, the UPS policy also responds to recent U.S. Supreme Court decisions on sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination.
