More than 50 percent of all online sales in the U.S. are sold to consumers outside the country, according to Internet World Stats. However, it is estimated that less than half of Internet retailers offer an international solution.

Global Internet trade exceeded $5 trillion in 2005, fueled by nearly one billion global Internet users, according to research firm IDC. Data compiled by Visa International indicates that global Internet consumer sales reached $150 billion in 2005-an increase of 57 percent from the previous year. The bottom line is this: In 2005, the non-U.S. consumer eCommerce market was 27 percent larger than the U.S. market and was growing 51 percent faster. It's time to get global.

As in any business transaction there are certain elements to be aware of to achieve successful international sales:

Credit Card Fraud-Make sure that the billing and shipping address match on your international orders--otherwise, you shouldn't accept it. If the order is substantial, it wouldn't hurt to call the customer to verify all information and ensure the customer is aware of the charges.
