When considering wellness programs, it is helpful to remember two things about human behavior patterns:

* Lifestyle reflects values and attitudes and determines behavior

* Attitude develops out of our ethics and values, which evolve from our beliefs.

Health and productivity are reflections of the above.

To effectively impact behavior, management must first model the behavior they expect from employees and then begin the process of changing the belief patterns of their employees.

People do not make decisions based on what they know but what they believe (knowing and believing are not the same), and we believe what we hear most frequently. For example, consider the media's powerful and repetitious messages, which often negatively alter the values and belief patterns of people worldwide.
