V. Evidence at the Preliminary Hearing

The following govern proceedings at the preliminary hearing:

• Hearsay evidence is permitted to be considered and the State is not required to call the alleged victim or other witnesses to the offense. As a result, victims and other witnesses to the offense are rarely called, and the only witness called by the State is an investigating law enforcement officer;
