A modified version of the EH-101 medium-lift helicopter now entering the U.S. military market is touted for being able to climb faster than 1,000 feet per minute, to an altitude of 5,000 feet in 95-degree temperatures with one engine shut down.

The three-engine helicopter, designed by the Anglo-Italian team Agusta-Westland has been renamed US-101.

Its U.S. partners are Lockheed Martin, of Bethesda, Md., and Bell Helicopter, of Fort Worth, Texas.
