European Chapter continues scholarship program.

As it did in 2007, in early March the European Chapter of Tax Executives Institute granted scholarships to four doctoral students at the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. The presentations were made on the Institute's behalf by Alexander Kolbl of General Dynamics. Also present was Professor Claus Staringer who helped coordinate the granting of the scholarships.

The recipients were Florian Brugger, Thomas Ecker, Sabine Heidenbauer, and Vanessa Metzler, all accomplished scholar who serve as research assistants at the Institute.

These prizes were distributed this March in Vienna at the opening event of the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law's semester. As a tribute to traditions, the event took place at Buschenschank Wilfinger, a proud representative of the Austrian "Heuringer" fraternity.... Heuringers serve the region's latest vintage, rarely dull mixtures. This goes well with healthy and crafty regional specialties--this year's Blunzn'grostl (a blood sausage-based delicacy) has left its memory both in my palate and on my weighing scale!
