In March, TEI's European Chapter awarded scholarships to three doctoral students at Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration.

Daniela Hohenwarter was graduated with distinction from the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration in 2003. After completing the LL.M. Program in International Tax Law in Vienna in 2004, she joined the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration as Assistant Professor. Since then, her research and publishing activities mainly focus on European tax law and corporate income tax law. Currently, Ms. Hohenwarter is writing her doctoral thesis on "utilization of losses in groups of companies."

As a member of the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law, Ms. Hohenwarter lectures Austrian individual and corporate income tax law and Austrian VAT law and coached the Austrian team winning the "European and International Moot Court Competition" in 2006 and 2007.

Patrick Plansky studied Business Administration at the Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration. During his studies he focused on tax law and became a member of the Institute for Austrian and International Tax Law in 2004. He wrote his master thesis with the Institute and received the "Talenta 2006" prize for having submitted one of the best five master theses during one academic year. In 2005 he took part in the "European and International Moot Court Competition 2006" as part of the Austrian team. The Austrian team did not just win the contest, but was awarded the prizes for "Best Memorandum on behalf of the Applicant" and "Best Memorandum on behalf of the Defendant."
