Bob Wessels has been a law professor for over 25 years in commercial and insolvency law, since 1988 at the Amsterdam Vrije University and from 2007-14 in international insolvency law at Leiden University, The Netherlands.

He has more than 40 years of business law experience, including 13 years as a partner with Ernst & Young in Amsterdam and London. In 2005, Prof. Wessels started his own legal practice, acting as a counsel's counsel, arbitrator and independent expert for courts, including more than 10 non-Dutch courts, mainly in the U.S. and European countries. He has published some 25 books, including seven books in English, and is the author of 10 of the Volumes Dutch series on restructuring and insolvency law ("Wessels Insolventierecht").

Since 2010, he has been an independent expert to the European Commission on matters of restructuring and insolvency law. He is a member of the Joint Board of Appeal of three European Supervisory Authorities (ESMA, EBA and EIOPA) and chair of the Conference on Restructuring and Insolvency Law (CERIL). He also acted as Special Technical Consultant to the IMF and the World Bank for drafting new insolvency laws and teaching judges and practitioners in Indonesia and Georgia, and has been the Deputy Justice at the Court of Appeal, The Hague, for over 25 years.

Ilya Kokorin is a lecturer at Leiden Law School, The Netherlands, where he teaches courses on international insolvency and comparative corporate law.
