Ethical leadership awards program honors nine principle-based organizations.

Salt Lake City - Nine Utah organizations were honored Sept. 12 during the inaugural Utah Ethical Leadership Awards program, hosted and organized by THE DANIELS FUND, COMMUNITY FOUNDATION OF UTAH and DAVID ECCLES SCHOOL OF BUSINESS at the UNIVERSITY OF UTAH.

Harris Sondak, professor in the David Eccles School of Business management department and faculty lead for The Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative at the U, says the groups started the program as a way to celebrate the ethical leadership of businesses, government organizations and nonprofit groups across the state of Utah.

Finalists for the Ethical Leadership Award for Business were MARK MILLER SUBARU, WESTECH ENGINEERING and XIVIISSION. WesTech received the award. Rex Plaizier, president and CEO at WesTech, says it was an honor for his company to receive such a prestigious award. "I want to exhibit the gratitude we have for a country and a state where honesty and integrity are still considered a virtue and not a weakness," he says.

Finalists for the Ethical Leadership Award for Government were OGDEN CITY's COMMUNITY AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, SALT LAKE COUNTY's REFUGEE SERVICES and the UTAH STATE
