In the final hours before its recess, the Assembly dealt AB 1138 (Strom-Martin) a fatal blow when it refused the bill's final approval.

As originally drafted, AB 1138 would have allowed only attorneys to offer estate planning services. Last spring, CalCPA responded quickly to this threat to the profession by alerting a coalition and contacting the author and other legislators immediately.
