Divorce: Variations by Type of Marital Violence
and Fathers’ Role Differentiation’’
Errors appeared in the article by Hardesty et al.,
titled "Coparenting Relationships After Divorce:
Variations by Type of Marital Violence and Fa-
thers’ Role Differentiation,’’ that was published
in the October 2008 issue of Family Relations.
In the abstract it reads: ‘‘Linking differentiation
to types of martial violence advances our theo-
retical understanding of variations in coparent-
ing relationships after divorce.’’ On page 479 it
reads: ‘‘In particular, we sought to uncover how
the dynamics of these relationships may be
linked to different types of martial violence.’’
On page 481 it reads: ‘‘Only one study (Hardesty
& Ganong, 2006), to our knowledge, has consid-
ered the potential inf‌luence of type of martial
violence on coparenting after separation.’’ On
page 489 it reads: ‘‘Further, we explicitly link
types of martial violence to fathers’ ability to
effectively differentiate their parental and spousal
roles after divorce.’’ On page 490 it reads:
‘‘Future research should also untangle the com-
plex interactions among the ability to differenti-
ate roles, types of martial violence, geographical
distance, time since separation, and substance
abuse.’’ In each of these sentences, ‘‘ma r t i a l ’’
should be replaced with ‘‘ma rit al. ’’
