With reference to your May story, "Trial by Combat," I was not surprised that the article did not address training as suggested by the subtitle "delivering technology to troops requires learning 'in real time.'"

The technology focus was not surprising given that we spend significant amounts of time and money on new technologies, but not enough on ensuring up front that these new tools will meet the needs of the intended users. Once fielded, we rely on training to mitigate the inadequacies of tools that have failed to take these user needs into account. Unfortunately, we often find that we don't have the necessary resources to introduce the new technology into the military organization to facilitate user acceptance. Insufficient...
