For people who have decided to study environmental science, policy, or education, it can be tricky to track down the appropriate programs. Although many schools are developing interdisciplinary programs in these fields, they are often scattered through unlikely university departments.

Fortunately, there are several reference guides available to help search for the right program:

* The Conservation Directory is published annually by the National Wildlife Federation. In addition to listing environmental groups and environmentally related government agencies in the United States and Canada, the directory contains a 20-page listing of colleges and universities in the United States and Canada that have environmentally related degree offerings--both undergraduate and graduate--plus contacts for further information. * Guide to Programs of Geography in the United States and Canada 1992-1993 is published by the Association of American Geographers. It lists both undergraduate and graduate programs in geography, many of which include studies in ecology, agricultural history, demography, and other interdisciplinary fields.
