Enterprising Women of Color (DOC)
Scope: The Commerce Department’s Minority Business
Development Agency seeks applications for the
Enterprising Women of Color announcement for funding
to support business centers seeking to promote and
ensure the inclusion and use of minority enterprises.
Deadline: May 30, 2020.
Funds: $1.5 million for up to three awards of up to
$500,000.
Eligibility: Colleges and universities; for-prot
organizations; nonprot organizations; and state, local
and Native American governments.
Areas: DOC said funding supports applications with
a focus on supporting minority women entrepreneurs
in the United States and its territories to build their
businesses, secure contracts and capital and increase
employment opportunities. The primary drivers of the
Minority Business Center—Enterprising Women of Color
are capacity-building and job creation/retention resulting
from facilitating contracts and nancing for medium-
sized minority businesses.

Small Business Innovation Research Program
Phase II (DOC)
Scope: The Commerce Department’s National Institute
of Standards and Technology (NIST) seeks applications
for the Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR)
Program Phase II from FY2019 Phase I awardees.
Deadline: May 26, 2020.
Funds: Each NIST Phase II award is for up to $400,000
and up to a 24-month period of performance. Up to
$50,000 of the award may be proposed for technical and
business assistance.
Eligibility: Only FY2019 NIST SBIR Phase I awardees
are eligible to submit applications.
Areas: DOC said in Phase II, work from Phase I that
exhibits potential for commercial application is further
developed. Phase II is the research and development or
prototype development phase. To apply for a Phase II
award, each Phase I awardee will be required to submit a
comprehensive application outlining the proposed research
and a detailed plan to commercialize the nal product.
