New England Chapter holds all-day meeting.

The New England Chapter held its annual all day meeting on May 4, 2007, in Needham, Massachusetts. The eagerly anticipated program was organized by the Assistant Treasurer, Christopher Digan from EMC corporation. The day was a great success with the help of all the officers: Joseph DeAngelo, Steve Rice, Karen Miller, and Jon Kasdan. Following opening remarks by Chapter President Joe DeAngelo, the Institute's Executive Director, Timothy McCormally, addressed the group briefly. Among other things, he noted the New England Chapter's rich tradition of participating in Institute-level activities, pointing out that next year, two members of the chapter will be senior officers--President Bob McDonough and Treasurer Paul O'Connor.

A great motivational speech was given by Jim Bearden--"Playing to Win in a Changing World--Happily Every After(s) Don't Just Happen." In addition, the dynamic and always popular Mary (Handy) Hevener of Baker & McKenzie was right on the mark with compensation issues update.

The chapter was fortunate to have many members of Deloitte Tax the meeting, coving section 382 developments, as well as State and Canadian tax issues. Jeff Paracano of Baker & Hostetler provided a Washington Update...
