Research Award (DOD)
Scope: The Defense Department’s U.S. Army Medical
Research Acquisition Activity seeks applications for the
Multiple Sclerosis, Investigator-Initiated Research Award
announcement to support highly rigorous, high-impact
research projects that have the potential to make an
important contribution to multiple sclerosis research and/
or patient care.
Deadline: Pre-applications, June 17, 2020; proposals,
Oct. 1, 2020.
Funds: $16 million for up to seven awards.
Eligibility: Unrestricted.
Areas: DOD said all applications submitted to the FY20
Multiple Sclerosis Research Program Investigator-
Initiated Research Award Program must address at least
one of the following focus areas: central nervous system
regenerative potential in demyelinating conditions;
correlates of disease activity and progression in multiple
sclerosis; biology and measurement of multiple sclerosis

Areas: DOD said clinical trials may be designed to
evaluate promising new products, pharmacologic
agents (drugs or biologics), devices, clinical guidance,
interventions, health behavioral modications and/
or emerging approaches and technologies. Proposed
projects may range from small proof-of-concept trials
(e.g., pilot, rst in human, Phase 0), to demonstrate
feasibility or inform the design of more advanced trials,
