Scope: The Interior Department’s Office of Insular
Affairs seeks applications for the FY21 Brown Treesnake
(BTS) Program announcement to prevent the spread of
BTS to other islands, outreach programs to educate the
public on BTS, and other projects for interdiction and
early detection and rapid response.
Deadline: April 1, 2021.
Funds: $3.5 million total for up to three awards
Eligibility: Representatives of the governments of
Guam, the Commonwealth Northern Mariana Islands,
the state of Hawaii, and federal agencies.
Areas: DOI said funding focuses on preventing the

Building Better Media Business Models (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s U.S. Mission to
Pakistan seeks applications for the Building Better
Media Business Models announcement to provide
training to Pakistani media outlets on new business
models to generate and diversify private sector revenue
and strategies for becoming more economically viable
and independent.
Deadline: March 26, 2021.
Funds: $120,000 for one award.

Strengthening Digital Media through Journalist
Capacity Building (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s U.S. Mission to
Pakistan seeks applications for the Strengthening
Digital Media through Journalist Capacity Building
announcement to support efforts to build media capacity
in an increasingly digital space through a series of
virtual workshops, webinars, and one-on-one support for
developing digital media skills.
Deadline: March 26, 2021.
Funds: $100,000 for one award.
Eligibility: Nonprot organizations.
Areas: DOS said participant selection will be subject to
the approval of the U.S. Embassy and Consulates, and
the program must ensure at least 50 percent female
participation. The program should include both Urdu
and English language journalists. Grant proposals must
explain how activities will support efforts to help shape
the future of digital media in Pakistan and expand the
digital skills of journalists seeking to break into that
space, including the development of online audiences
and the monetization of digital platforms. This program’s
target audience is young, established, professional
journalists who are seeking to expand their presence
on one of more of the following platforms: personal
websites, blogs, microblogs, online video channels,
podcasts, or internet radio.

Empowering Girls through STEM (DOS)
Scope: The State Department’s U.S. Mission to
Pakistan seeks applications for the Empowering Girls
through STEM announcement to organize a series of
technology-based programs on Science, Technology,
Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) themes for
middle to high school-aged girls in the Islamabad and
Lahore districts, in partnership with the network of
Lincoln Corners.
Deadline: March 26, 2021.
Funds: $50,000 for one award.
Eligibility: Nonprot organizations.
Areas: DOS said the grantee will develop a curriculum
for and organize a total of 20 foundational, technology-
based programs focused on imparting skills like creative
problem-solving, critical thinking, collaboration, and
design thinking in ve Lincoln Corners in Pakistan
(Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rawalpindi, and
Muzaffarabad), with 40 girls at each site. They will
feature a hands-on, experience-based facilitation style
that encourages young women to explore STEM careers
through participation in, for example, maker/Do-It-
Yourself (DIY) camps and coding workshops.
