• Position: Excellence in CPA Education - Conference notes

Every year the California CPA Education Foundation's Awards Committee singles out a select few individuals who deserve special recognition for their efforts to educate California CPAs.

This year's winners are:

* J. Patrick Garverick, CPA, CFP: Award for Instructor Excellence: Garverick receives rave reviews for the titles he teaches, which include the three-day Staff Tax Training programs [levels 1-3], a course on Tax Favored Health Care Plans and several partnership and corporate tax titles.

* Elliott Kajan: Award for Meritorious Service: Kajan has volunteered as a conference planning committee member and speaker for many tax conferences, including Fraud in Audit, Accounting and Tax and the annual Tax Update and Planning Conference.

* John Valenzuela, CPA: Outstanding Conference Speaker: Valenzuela's score averages are consistently high and attendees report that he is an outstanding presenter. He has been involved with the Not-for-Profit Organizations Conference as a planning committee member and speaker since its inception in 1990.
