Edmonton to build eco-friendly recycling plant.

The City of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, will work to build an eco-friendly paper and glass recycling plant, in partnership with a private-industry recycling company. The facility will allow the city to achieve "closed-loop recycling" by processing waste paper collected from city offices into recycled paper products that the city will purchase. Closed-loop recycling refers to reprocessing recyclables and turning them into similar products that can be recycled at the end of their useful life.

The city's private-sector partner uses an eco-friendly process for recycling waste paper, cardboard, old cotton cloth, and denim to manufacture paper and paper-molded products. By 2010, when the facility is fully operational, it will process 40 tons of waste paper and cardboard daily
