The July issue of Race and Justice: An International Journal (RAJ) features an
eclectic collection of articles examining multiple facets of the criminal justice system
as pertaining to race and ethnicity. Topics covered in this issue span policing, juvenile
transfers, media coverage of critical incidents, and even the experiences of Roma
inmates held in Portuguese prisons. This issue demonstrates RAJ’s enduring com-
mitment to the critical assessment of how well (or poorly) the criminal justice system
truly serves the interests of justice for racial and ethnic minorities in the United States
and beyond.
RAJ continually seeks manuscripts that provide insight into the ways race and
ethnicity shape individuals’ interactions with the criminal justice system, as well as
the ways these social factors alter the form and function of the system itself. In
addition to accepting manuscripts on these topics, we have opportunities for specia-
lized entries and roles, as such:
