EDITORIAL
Editorial note
The Editorial Board at World Food Policy (WFP) would like to thank our readers for their sup-
port and to the authors for their ongoing passion for knowledge on food (in)security. We aim to
make sure that your hard work and dedication never goes unnoticed.
It is my honor to present Volume 10, Issue 1 of WFP, our first issue of the year. The current
issue is composed of six research articles. First, we would like to introduce “Intra-household
Empowerment Patterns, Gender Power Relations, and Food Security in Uganda”(Lwesya &
Ho, 2024). This article uses a large-Nstudy to examine (a) the relationship between men and
women empowerment and food security within households and (b) the effect of gender power
roles in households on the food security status of women and men in Uganda’s fishing villages.
Second, we present “Food insecurity and dietary diversity among food aid recipients in
urban and rural areas at the covid-19 outbreak: an exploratory study.”In this research article,
Gildas (2024) estimates the prevalence and degree of food insecurity and its association with
demographic, social, and economic characteristics of health status in a sample of food aid recip-
ients in urban and rural areas of Catalonia, Spain.
Our third research article “Credit, Gender and Food Security: Empirical Evidence of
Determinants to Access, Affordability and Consumption in Cameroon,”by Assoua et al. (2024),
focuses on a largely unexplored aspect of food (in)security: access to credit and the amount of
credit lent.
Additionally, we present “Integrating Climate Change, Food Safety, Nutrition and Health
Outcomes in Food Systems Policies and Programmes in Africa”(Kyeremateng et al., 2024). This
research article focuses on the interplay among climate change, food safety, nutrition, and
health outcomes within the African context. It particularly explores the pathways of
interlinkages and complementarities among these factors and identifies policy barriers to their
effective implementation.
We also introduce “Economic Dynamics of Agri-Food Supply Chains at a Macro Level.”
Using data from 53 countries, Carrillo-
´
Alvarez et al. (2024) aim to integrate demand and supply
elasticities, performance metrics, and data envelopment analysis to analyze agri-food
supply chains at a macroeconomic level.
Finally, we present “Classic Publications in Food Security Research: A Bibliometric Analy-
sis”by Barak et al. (2024). Using this research method, this paper explores particular trends
within the food (in)security academic literature between 1993 and 2022.
As we have done since I became the new Editor-in-Chief of WFP, together with the new
Editorial Board, we have sought to structure and lay the groundwork for further debate on the
critical issues of food (in)security. Thank you for your interest and your contributions as we
continue to build this journal.
