EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION

Editorial: Intertwining the past, present, and

future pathways

As the incoming fourth editor of Conflict Resolution Quarterly (CRQ formerly Mediation Quar-

terly), I am taking this opportunity of inaugurating the 38th volume and sharing with you—the

community of scholars, practitioners, and students of social conflict—some of my thoughts

about the Journal's directions.

I am a social–organizational psychologist by training, who in the course of the years have

expanded academic and professional experience into interdisciplinary, multimethod, and

research-practice interface facets. My life experiences (personal and professional) of wandering

through different geographic, cultural, and social regions, made me keen to learn about conflict

engagement in diverse locations and communities. They have also precipitated developing inter-

national professional networks and building international partnerships for collaborative projects.

Hence, my vision for CRQ encapsulates further developing the existing features of CRQ;

namely, publishing quality scholarship on all aspects of conflict resolution and alternative dis-

pute but also opening new avenues. The novel aspects encompass expanding the conceptual

foci, the interdisciplinary, and international aspects.

1|NEW CONCEPTUAL FOCI

The new departures will engage current societal and political issues at the global and national

agendas that capture conflict-related themes, such as crisis management (for example COVID-19),

growing challenges of democracy,anddiversity management.CRQ will attempt to capture

the implications of the social and political issues on engaging interpersonal, intragroup,

intraorganizational, and intergroup conflict both at the theoretical as well as thepractical level.

2|EXTENDED INTERDISCIPLINARY ASPECTS

CRQ will extend its invitations for contributions from scholars, practitioners, policy makers in

all the fields of psychology (notably, applied psychology), sociology and anthropology,social

work, law,political science,international relations,public policy,management, and economics,

with special emphasis on interdisciplinary work among these disciplines on the three foci indi-

cated above.

3|EXPANDING INTERNATIONAL NETWORKS

CRQ will attempt to expand its international connections beyond North America, recruiting

guest editors, reviewers, and contributions from Europe, Southern and Central America, Asia
