Editorial Board Member: Wendi Egan
Wendi Egan is a senior manager in the
Chicago oce of RHP Risk Man-
agement, Inc., an environmental and
occupational consulting f‌irm of scientists and
public health professionals with expertise across
toxicology, epidemiology, industrial hygiene,
exposure science, and human health risk
assessment. In her role at RHP, Wendi draws
on more than two decades of risk assessment
consulting and dispute resolution experience
and has supported complex toxic tort matters,
premises liability disputes, chemical release
investigations, occupational safety and health
evaluations, and product liability actions in both
state and federal jurisdictions nationwide.
Wendi was born and raised in St. Charles, Illinois, a small
community located approximately 20 miles west of downtown
Chicago. Growing up, she enjoyed a childhood f‌illed with
sports and other outdoor activities. She participated in tennis
and volleyball throughout middle school and high school,
where she learned the value of teamwork and discipline. At
a young age, Wendi also developed what would be a lifelong
love of reading and will dive into anything on the NYT best
sellers list, from cookbooks to true crime. After graduating
from high school, Wendi pursued a paralegal certif‌ication,
motivated by an interest in law, research, and problem-solving.
She later built on that foundation by completing her bachelor
of arts in political science at the University of Illinois at
Chicago. Her interest in the intersection of law, policy, and
community issues led her to volunteer on local political
campaigns and as an election judge in Chicago and the
surrounding suburbs, and these experiences strengthened her
communication skills and broadened her understanding of
public processes.
Wendi began her career in risk assessment consulting in
2005, and from the start felt certain she had found her pro-
fessional home. Over her more than 20 years in the f‌ield, she
has concentrated on supporting clients and experts engaged in
litigated matters through comprehensive document review and
analysis, multidisciplinary research, historical reconstruction
of industrial and occupational practices, and the evaluation
of exposure-related information. She routinely synthesizes
complex scientif‌ic and technical material into clear, struc-
tured, and scientif‌ically grounded deliverables for use in both
litigation and regulatory decision-making. Ref‌lecting on what
drew her to the f‌ield, Wendi notes that she has “always loved
school”—so much so that as a child she would insist she felt
well even when she was sick, just to avoid missing a day. “For
a person who has a love of learning,” she explains, “getting to
work each day alongside scientists and public
health professionals from so many dierent dis-
ciplines is an ideal environment, and every day
oers a new opportunity to grow. I am truly
blessed to have such an incredible team.
In 2005, Wendi met her husband, Tom,
while they were both working as volunteers on
a Chicago aldermanic race. They were married
in 2009 and are raising their four children—
ages 17, 15, 10, and 6—in the western suburbs
of Chicago. “We’re navigating everything from
learning to read and write to college admis-
sions. It’s crazy and amazing at the same time.”
Outside of work, Wendi enjoys running and
has devoted considerable time to community
support. Her volunteerism has included organizing groups of
friends, neighbors, and students to cook and serve meals and
assemble brown bag lunches for residents of a local temporary
shelter and collecting wish list items for donation. Addi-
tionally, Wendi remains active at her children’s elementary
school, serving as a member of the PTC and chairing annual
fundraising events. Z
