From January 1, 2003, through December 31, 2003, the Editorial Office received 248 new manuscripts submissions. The following table lists the time in the editorial process for the 248 manuscripts submitted during 2003 for which the authors received a first decision by March 15, 2004.

Months Percentage of Submissions 0-3 35.08% 3-4 21.37% 4-5 14.92% 5-6 8.47% 6-9 14.11% 9+ 6.05% Since February 11, 2004, JSTOR (www.jstor.org) includes the Southern Economic Journal in its database of economics journals. All but the most recent three years are accessible. By July 27, 2004, 4,395 articles have been viewed through this service and 78.5% of the accesses were from sites in the United States. This ensures a wider distribution of back issues and makes it easier for faculty to assign students articles for class use without going through the permission process.
