EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION
In the spirit of Conflict Resolution Quarterly, the fall issue of volume 39 engages with conflict-
related themes while linking theory, research and practice, connecting to current topics of
concern and sounding scholars' voices from different parts of the world.
The first article by Debarun Chakraborty, Wendrila Biswas and Ganesh Dash presents a sur-
vey research conducted in India, highlighting the vital role of organizations in engendering pos-
itive affect and resilience of employees in times of global enduring pandemic COVID 19. The
authors coin the notion of heart-workthat is maintaining openness and connection with
organizational members to counteract despair and tensions encountered in the course of the
protracted crisis.
Michael Kern and Steven Smutko address in their article collaborative governance, a
constructive orientation for organizational administration and management, albeit highly
challenging to implement in an era of governance drifts. The authors focus on academic institu-
tions in the US and portray the evolvement of collaborative governance, examine its fit to
regions and states and discuss the future directions and implications of such a governance
model.
The third article proclaims the voices of scholars studying mediation in Ukraine. Mykola
Lohvinenko, Mykola Starynskyi, Lyudmila Rudenko and Iryna Kordunian discuss various
models of mediation, including facilitative mediation, evaluative, transformative, e-mediation,
court-mandated and shuttle mediation. They explicate the theoretical and practical ramifica-
tions in the context of Ukrainian alternative dispute resolution and legislation aimed at regula-
tion of mediation.
The fall issue culminates with Dorcas Quek Anderson's book review of Mediation Ethics:
From Theory to Practice authored by Rachel Field and Jonathan Crowe, published by Edward
Elgar in 2020. Anderson illuminates the pertinent, timely and significant contribution of the
book to the theoretical framing of mediation ethics, hitherto barely addressed in scholarly
writings in the third party conflict intervention domain.
I invite all the readers to the inaugurating issue of volume 39, wishing you interesting
reading experiences. Stay tuned for our upcoming Special Issue on Shared Society the second
(winter) issue!
