EDITOR'S INTRODUCTION
The current issue reflects the vision of Conflict Resolution Quarterly: providing the international
angle that is presenting scholarly work conducted in different parts of the world; linking with
and highlighting contemporary social and political issues (post conflict phase, active conflicts
and preparing through education and training conflict professionals for engaging with all the
phases of tensions and discords); and interfacing research with practice. Thus, some of the arti-
cles focus on research, some are practice-oriented and some manifest both emphases.
The first article by Marín, L
opez, Beltr
an Espitia and Mullet presents a study evaluating the
different personal positions of Colombian adults regarding the determinants of the acceptability
of political amnesties in post-conflict contexts.
The work of Rothbart, relayed in the second paper concentrates on the results from one case
study of compassion, a group of 23 young people from conflict-ridden countries who were
enrolled in a 2-year peace education program entitled Rondine.
The third article authored by Romano, Linnemeier and Allen expounds the main lessons
gained throughout the design and facilitation phases of a conflict resolution workshop with
environmental activists in rural Appalachia.
Raz-Rotem, Arieli and Desivilya Syna explore in the fourth paper, how academics in Israeli
complex sociopolitical context, engulfed by protracted intergroup conflict cope with campus
diversity of their students.
The fifth article authored by Mishra, focuses on peace education in secondary schools of
Mizoram, aimed to equip future citizens with the necessary knowledge, attitudes, and skills to
acknowledge and respect all kinds of diversity and understanding with human dignity.
Potash and Gyimah-Boadi present in the sixth article the contribution of intergroup dia-
logue through art and art therapy to community development and social change.
Gandatora relays in the seventh paper how arbitration gains popularity as a mechanism of
dispute settlement in international mediation.
The eighth article by Harmon-Darrow and Charkoudian examines the impact of mediators'
stated approach (facilitative, inclusive, transformative) on their behavior at the mediation table.
The last article, authored by Hol
a, Urbanov
a and Fiodor, analyzes the institutionalization of
mediation in the Czech Republic in the development context of Europe.
Wish all the readers interesting and enriching reading experiences!
