Editor’s Corner
Before writing this last “Editor’s Corner,” I began reflecting on my six-
year journey on the Editorial Board. When I applied to join the Board,
I had little idea what I was actually signing up for. I am delighted that it
turned out to be such a positive experience. I knew I would be editing
articles, but I did not realize I would also be meeting so many new col-
leagues and friends. I did not realize that I would zealously hone my
somewhat faded blue-booking skills to the point that I can spot an
incorrectly italicized period with one eye closed. And I did not realize I
would read a staggering breadth of scholarship from authors all over
the world.
I think the biggest surprise was how much I enjoyed reading so
much scholarship from outside my area of expertise. Admittedly, not all
the articles were ready for prime time, but each piece has a story to tell
and a world to expose to me. Choosing which pieces to publish turned
out to be far more challenging that I had anticipated. Consistently, the
most rewarding part of the process for me was working with our
authors, both as an Articles Editor, and this year as Editor in Chief to
help their pieces shine; it was a pleasure and a privilege.
This journal is a massive undertaking, and it is an entirely team
effort. I want to thank this year’s fabulous Editorial Board: Laurie
Lucas, Julie Magid, Gideon Mark, Terence Lau, and David Orozco for
all their hard work this year. The team at Wiley was incredible too—
thanks to Maxine Idakus, Mildred Bayas, Princess Robie Balais,
Elizabeth Welch, and Michael Streeter for all their help. And finally, I
could not have done this without the superlative help of Chris Cash,
Keith Dominguez, Michael Schechner, and Victoria Short for the first
three volumes, and Taylor Cary, MaryAnne Santini, and Deanna Wolf
for 54:4. I am indebted to you all.
