EDGAR[R] Online Inc. has released its new I Metrix[TM] suite of products based on eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL), providing what it says is a new level of financial information transparency to analysts, auditors and corporate finance specialists.

I-Metrix products provide the ability to analyze more than 1,000 normalized and as-reported data points from companies' financial statements. Coverage includes U.S. securities, including public, private and foreign companies who report financials to the Securities and Exchange Commission. By the end of the year, South Norwalk, Conn.-based EDGAR Online plans to include data on additional global securities and private companies.

The product line includes I-Metrix Professional delivered via Microsoft[R] Excel and I Metrix Architect, which provides an application program interface (API) delivered through a simple object access protocol (SOAP)-compliant Web service. EDGAR Online's I-Metrix Architect allows developers to empower any software application with XBRL data.
