ECPI University, with a campus in Columbia, has begun issuing digital degrees using blockchain technology. The service gives students control of their academic records, allowing them to share their degrees publicly or privately, and gives employers the ability to instantly check a student's educational credentials.

ECPI, an institution accredited by the Southern Association of College and Schools Commission on Colleges which offers accelerated associate's, bachelor's and master's degrees, will begin issuing digital transcripts in 2019, according to a new release.
