Delco Remy div. General Motors, Anderson; Emp.: 6,125. A division of General Motors Automotive Components Group Worldwide, this company leads GM and the world in development and production of electric power systems and components. Delco Remy's worldwide operations include 18 million square feet in 24 manufacturing facilities, spread out across 12 countries on four continents. In Anderson, Delco Remy has worldwide headquarters, almost all of its engineering and research, and some of its manufacturing.

Inland Fisher Guide div. General Motors, Anderson; Emp.; 3,850. Founded as the Guide Motor Lamp Manufacturing Co. in 1928, Inland Fisher Guide is the biggest single automotive lighting supplier. Its products include lighting and bumper systems and components (bumper assemblies and signal lighting--including tail and top lamps, turn-signal lamps and parking lamps), electronic lighting controls and radiator grilles.

Burlington Motor Carriers, Daleville; Emp.: 3,300. The nation's fifth-largest truckload carrier, this company was spun off in 1988 from Burlington Northern Inc., the parent of Burlington Northern Railroad. In 1992 the headquarters was moved from Hurst, Texas. Its fleet is about 2,800 tractors and 5,600 trailers strong and operates throughout the continental U.S. as well as Canada and Mexico.
