Washington-based National Spinning will close its local plant by year-end, idling 152 workers. The 96-year-old company makes natural and synthetic yarns for apparel, home furnishings and industrial products. The company plans to consolidate operations at other plants.

WILMINGTON

North Carolina Ports will add weekly service between Port of Wilmington and Guatemala and Honduras. The new route is the result of a partnership with Jacksonville, Fla.-based shipper Crowley Maritime.
