For the first time in history, an unmanned probe has landed on a comet--which is no mean feat considering that Comet 67P is about 317 million miles away from Earth and travels at 84,000 miles an hour. Among the things scientists have discovered so far? Comets stink. The probe, from the European Space Agency, analyzed the gases surrounding the comet, including ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, and hydrogen cyanide. By recreating the mix in a lab, scientists found that the comet smells like a barn filled with rotten eggs, a splash of horse urine, and bitter almonds...
