People have been saying for decades that organized labor is dying in North Carolina. Leave it to a bunch of nurses to put it on life support. Nurses at Duke University's medical center in Durham gathered 1,000 signatures on a petition for a vote on collective bargaining, if the nurses win June 2 and 3, Duke would be the second hospital in North Carolina -- and the first private one -- with a nurses union. The vote comes at a time when Triangle hospitals are complaining about not being able to find enough nurses. Duke has even paid $1,000 signing bonuses...
