Dudley biased.

Steven Dudley does a disservice to our understanding of the Colombian civil war ("On the Road with the FARC," November issue). Why even comment on the leftist guerrilla group if, as Dudley writes, "the army and its proxies, the rightwing paramilitaries, have been even more brutal.... The paramilitaries still assassinate people by the hundreds"?

How can Dudley call people who fight back against death squads backed by the Colombian and U.S. governments "bullies"?

How can Dudley judge the moral compass of a guerrilla group that is fighting a corrupt government that profits off of drugs ten times as much as the guerrillas? Are the context and the behavior of an adversary irrelevant?
