Reading Marcello Rossi's thoughtful article about how the climate crisis has affected and will affect Washington's Quinault Tribe, "There Was No Other Option" (December/January issue), I was reminded of the sentiments of Chief Seattie, who lived not far from the Quinault.

"This we know," he purportedly said, "the Earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the Earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself." What is happening to...
