Good news for business: enhanced driver's license for border crossing purposes one step closer to reality.


On Monday, October 13, 2008, Michigan Secretary of State Terri Lynn Land and Department of Homeland Security Assistant Secretary for Policy Stewart Baker signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) before the media and business community at the offices of the Detroit Regional Chamber. The MOU provides an official linkage between our state and federal governments in support of an enhanced driver's license for land border crossing purposes. The MOU creates a process through which the state can verify proof of identity and citizenship of driver's license applicants. Proof of citizenship is required if the driver's license is to be used for border crossing purposes.
