DOT releases $16 million for Alaska Railroad.

The Department of Transportation recently released $16.2 million to the Alaska Railroad: $9 million earmarked for the Alaska Commuter Rail Project and $7.2 million for the Fairbanks Intermodel Facility.

"These funds will enhance safety, as well as upgrade, restore and expand the Alaska Railroad's infrastructure," said Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska.
