DOT releases funding to Alaska Railroad.

The Department of Transportation has released $10.2 million to the Alaska Railroad to straighten railroad tracks on and near the Anchorage military bases.

"These funds are critical to improving safety and further modernizing our railroad infrastructure," said Sen. Ted Stevens, R-Alaska. "This realignment will reduce track curvature and improve safety features along the mainline track."
