It sent shivers down my spine to read Van Jones, in his interview with David Kupfer (February issue), boast of his work with Koch Industries and Newt Gingrich on issues of criminal justice, saying "this means we are mature grownups." While the goal is certainly noble, the outcome will likely be less than Jones anticipates and the grownups will be sent to their rooms without any supper.

There's no shortage of reports on why the Koch brothers are part of this criminal justice "movement" and Jane Mayer's latest book, Dark Money, only highlights the duplicity. As they fund efforts to lessen incarceration, the Koch brothers continue backing candidates, like Governor Scott Walker of Wisconsin, who remain staunch advocates for hard prison terms.
