One of the few good things to come out of the disastrous war in Iraq has been the growing number of gays permitted to serve their country. The number of discharges for violations of the "don't ask, don't tell" policy has dropped from more than 1,200 in 2001. to less than half that number last year. It just goes to show how nothing inspires tolerance like need.
