Work Zone Data Exchange Demonstration (DOT)
Scope: The Transportation Department’s Federal
Highway Administration seeks applications for the Work
Zone Data Exchange Demonstration announcement to
increase the safety of the traveling public through the
production of consistent public work zone data feeds
across jurisdictions.
Deadline: Aug. 3, 2020.
Funds: $2.4 million for up to 12 awards.
Eligibility: State, local and Native American tribal
governments; transit agencies and authorities;
metropolitan planning organizations; other subdivisions
of state or local governments (including public port
authorities/districts); or a multijurisdictional group
applying through a single lead applicant.
Areas: DOT said funding may be used for public
roadway operators to make unied work zone data feeds
available for use by third parties and collaborate on
specication development.

Railroad Trespassing Suicide Prevention Grant
Program (DOT)
Scope: The Transportation Department’s Federal
Railroad Administration seeks applications for the
FY2020 Railroad Trespassing Suicide Prevention Grant
Program announcement to assist in outreach campaigns
to reduce the number of railroad-related suicides that
involve railroad trespassing.
Deadline: Aug. 10, 2020.
Funds: $293,000 total for up to 5 awards.
Eligibility: An organization in the United States with
a focus on suicide prevention and/or mental health
assistance that can implement an outreach campaign
for reducing suicide involving railroad trespassing, or a
railroad carrier interested in starting or expanding efforts
to prevent trespass suicide.
Areas: DOT said funding under this announcement
is intended to identify and fund partnerships between
organizations focused on suicide prevention and/or
mental health assistance and railroad carriers to develop
and implement a targeted outreach campaign to reduce
the number of railroad-related suicides.

CCDC-ARL Manufacturing Technology (DOD)
Scope: The Defense Department’s Combat Capabilities
Development Command-Army Research Laboratory
(CCDC-ARL) seeks applications for the Manufacturing
Technology announcement to develop and demonstrate
improvements for the manufacture of combat vehicle
hulls/structures, and to reduce labor-intensive practices
and processes on the production oor that exist today to
produce vehicle structures.
Deadline: Sept. 30, 2023.
Funds: To be determined.
Eligibility: For-prot and nonprot organizations.
Areas: DOD said the objective for the maturation of
advanced manufacturing technologies will be rst to
identify multipart combat vehicle components and then
develop the appropriate process or combination of
manufacturing processes to consolidate the multipart
component into one part, eliminating the need for
welding, reducing cost and increasing performance.
The manufacturing processes that can be considered
include: (1) hot forming (press hardening), (2) hot
forming followed by a separate quench and age or
temper, (3) machining of thick armor plate, (4) a
combination of hot forming, machining and metal
additive manufacturing as separate discrete processes
and (5) hybrid manufacturing whereby these are
combined in one machine.

DOD Kidney Cancer, Idea Development Award

Scope: The Defense Department’s U.S. Army Medical
Research Acquisition Activity seeks applications for
the DOD Kidney Cancer, Idea Development Award to
support innovative ideas and high-impact approaches,
based on scientically sound evidence, to move toward
the Kidney Cancer Research Program’s vision of
eliminating kidney cancer.
Deadline: Pre-applications, Sept. 2, 2020; proposals,
Sept. 23, 2020.
Funds: Approximately $18.1 million to fund
approximately 14 Idea Development Award applications.
Eligibility: Unrestricted.
Areas: DOD said applicants are encouraged to
address at least one area of emphasis: noninvasive
interventions, surgical interventions, genetics, chromatin
and gene regulation, prognosis biomarker development,
and screening and early detection.
