With the changing face of the U.S.'s population greatly influencing presidential politics, the personal-finance website WalletHub conducted an analysis of 2016's Most Diverse Cities in America. To identify the places with the healthiest balance of diversity, analysts compared the demographic profiles of 313 of the largest cities across four major diversity categories: social class, ethnoracial, economic, and household.

The most diverse cities, starting at the top, are Gaithersburg, Md.; Jersey City, N.J.; Oakland, Calif.; Silver Spring, Md.; Germantown, Md.; New York, N.Y.; San Jose, Calif.; Frederick, Md.; Anaheim, Calif.; and Sacramento, Calif.

The least diverse cities, going from the bottom up, are Sacramento, Calif.; Livonia, Mich.; Birming ham, Ala.; Parma, Ohio; Sioux Falls, S.D.; Erie, Pa.; Cleveland, Ohio; Spokane, Wash.; Cincinnati, Ohio; and Toledo, Ohio.
