The other day, I helped a friend set her new computer. We were missing a cord to the printer; we didn't know what to do with the wireless card; and we didn't know how to hook up the answering machine to the telephone to the computer.

It took us hours to do a job that could have been done in minutes. Then there was loading software, naming the computer, calling to install Internet service and get e-mail working. It wasn't easy.

Fortunately, tech support was available for our questions. When you don't know something, go to the IT, cable, Internet, network systems, storage systems, video (and many more) experts.

This is the first year Alaska Business Monthly has put together the Information/Technology list. If you need an Internet cable connection to your office, these are the people to call.
