Woertz retired in 2015 as chairman and CEO of Archer Daniels Midland. She had been CEO of ADM since 2007. Previously she was EVP of Chevron Corp., where she spent 29 years in leadership roles.

3M produces products for the office, health care, highway safety, and abrasives and adhesives markets. Revenues are $30 billion.

Schmidt is the former EVP and CFO of Spirit Aerosystems Holdings Inc. He previously was EVP and CFO of Goodrich Corp. Also joining the Alcoa board is Sean Mahoney, a private investor and former partner at Goldman Sachs. The three new directors join the board with the approval of Elliott Management, a significant investor in Alcoa.

Also joining the board is Eric Semler, president and founder of TCS Capital Management LLC. TCS reached an agreement with the company that provides for two additional directors to join the board and for TCF to increase its ownership stake.
