3M is a diversified technology and consumer products company. Revenues are $30 billion.

He currently serves as chairman of the supervisory board of CeramTec GmbH, which manufactures and develops advanced ceramic components. Also is a director of Ener-Sys. Age 69. Monser spent more than 30 years in senior roles at Emerson, and was named COO in 2001 and president in 2010. He currently is a member of the Economic Development board for China's Guangdong Province and formerly was vice chairman of the U.S.-China Business Council. Age 63. Note: Also joining the board as the company reached an accommodation with investor Bill Ackrnan of Pershing Square is Matthew Paull, 62, a former Ernst & Young partner who joined McDonald's Corp. in 1993 and served as senior EVP and CFO from 2001 until he retired from that position in 2008.

AOL provides global Web services. It completed its spinoff from Time Warner in December 2009. Revenues are $2 billion. Hearst is a privately owned diversified publishing and communications company.

Bio Notes: She retired in August 2013 from McKinsey & Co., where she spent a 32-year career, most recently as head of the people committee and member of the firm's governing board.
