Diesel Car Engines Falling Out of Favor.

The market share of diesel vehicles has declined by 51% while the average price for new cars has almost doubled, notes news and information platform Kryptoszene. In Germany, the share of new vehicles sold with a diesel engine has shrunk to 27.2%. As recently as 2011, more than half of all new cars were diesel powered. Moreover, the average price for a new car is 73.2% higher than in 2009.

However, there are significant differences between car manufacturers: while almost one in two vehicles sold by BMW in 2020 is equipped with a diesel engine, the proportion at Renault is 14.8%. German manufacturers Mercedes and Volkswagen also continue to sell an above-average number of diesels, with 47.8% and 46.1%, respectively.
