Technology Integration Group Services Inc. (TIGS), a custom software developer based in Rochester, Mich., is offering an educational program designed to develop savings attitudes among school-age children.

The program, called "Kid Savers," will help children learn about money and the financial world in "a fun and interactive way," says TIGS president Darn Hanna.

The company has established a "Kid Savers Network" of "banks, credit unions, independent representatives and philanthropic organizations that will in turn offer Kid Savers to grade school students in their respective communities," Hanna says. Four Michigan elementary schools are the first schools to try the program.

The program is installed on a computer terminal at each participating school. Students can then use the terminal to record bank deposits. Deposits are then placed in special envelopes, which are collected and delivered to TIGS, which processes the transactions and supplies reports to participating financial institutions.
